The Joolz Aer2 is an ultra-compact travel stroller built for life between subway platforms and walkup apartments. At 14.3 lbs with a one-second, one-hand fold that’s compact enough for an airplane overhead bin, it’s the rare lightweight stroller that doesn’t ask you to sacrifice ride quality to get the weight down — suitable from birth all the way to 50 lbs.

As NYC’s expert baby boutique, this is one of our top picks for city families: subway-friendly, easy for frequent travelers, ideal for smaller apartments and walkups, and perfect for pre-school drop-off. For parents-to-be building a registry, the Aer2 is a must-have.

Best For/Not For

Best For

NYC subway families who need to fold one-handed while holding a child or a coffee

Frequent travelers — folded dimensions are IATA compliant for overhead bins

Apartment dwellers, especially walkups, where weight and compactness matter most

Taller parents, thanks to the 42″ handlebar

Families wanting a one-and-done lightweight newborn pram

A solo stroller for car-free city families, or a second stroller alongside a full-size

Not Ideal For

Rough terrain, jogging, or heavy daily-use families where a full-size suspension stroller suits better

Parents who load up the basket on every outing — at 17.6 lbs, it’s smaller than full-size strollers

Is It Suitable for My Baby’s Age?

Newborn (0–6 months)

Yes — with the seat fully reclined and the included baby net. For true lie-flat comfort, add the Joolz Aer2 Carry Cot (folds flat with the stroller attached) or the Nest-to-Seat for extended parent-facing use to 30 lbs.

Infant (6–12 months)

Yes — reclined or relaxed seat position with adjustable leg rest and a padded 5-point harness.

Toddler (1–4 years)

Yes — upright seat, kick space, and leg rest support comfortably up to 50 lbs.

Is It Good for NYC / City Use?

Yes — this is one of Babesta’s top recommendations for city parents. It folds in one second while holding a child or a coffee. The included shoulder strap means hands-free carrying on subway stairs, a feature that matters most at a crowded station during rush hour. At 14.3 lbs, it’s light enough to lift in and out of cabs and rideshares without breaking stride, and the suspension wheels handle cracked NYC sidewalks better than most ultra-compact strollers in this class.

Compared to other ultra-compacts, the Aer2 is lighter than the UPPAbaby Minu V3 and Bugaboo Butterfly 2, and offers more newborn-readiness options than the Stokke Yoyo — without sacrificing ride quality.

Car Seat Compatibility

Adapter Required (sold separately)

Clek Liing, Bugaboo Turtle Air Shield, select Cybex, Nuna — ask the Babesta team for the correct adapter for your brand

No-Adapter Option

Use the Joolz Aer2 Carry Cot or Nest-to-Seat for a travel system without an infant car seat

What’s Included

      Joolz Aer2 stroller

      Baby net

      Shoulder strap

      Travel pouch

      10-year transferable warranty

Optional Add-Ons Available at Babesta

Joolz Aer2 Carry Cot / Bassinet — for newborn lie-flat use; folds flat with stroller attached

Nest-to-Seat — extended parent-facing use to 30 lbs; bridges newborn and infant phases

Foldable bumper bar — for extra security

Basket bag (underseat organizer) — for additional storage

Car seat adapters for select Maxi-Cosi, Cybex, Clek, and Nuna car seats — for travel system use

Footboard with seat — for older siblings

Why Babesta Carries It

As a curated store, we don’t carry everything — we only choose what really works for city life. Most ultra-compact strollers make trade-offs: light but flimsy, or compact but hard to fold one-handed. The Aer2 is the rare one that gets all three right. The one-hand fold is genuinely one-second; we’ve tested it on Warren Street outside our store. The basket is larger than competitors in this weight class, and the 10-year transferable warranty means it holds resale value better than almost anything else in this category.

The Red Dot Award 2025 also signals something practical: the engineering decisions behind the fold, the handlebar feel, and the fabric were made with real intentionality. If you want one stroller that works from the hospital to the airport to the subway, this is it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this as my only stroller?

Yes for most city families, especially with the Carry Cot accessory for the newborn phase. If you live in a walkup, take the subway regularly, or travel frequently, the Aer2 is a strong solo stroller choice over a full-size. If you want more ride quality for long daily walks in a park-heavy neighborhood, consider pairing it with a full-size stroller.

Does it work with infant car seats?

Yes, with separately sold car seat adapters. Compatible brands available at Babesta include Clek Liing, Bugaboo Turtle Air Shield, and select Cybex. Other compatible brands include Nuna and Maxi-Cosi. Ask our team for the right adapter for your car seat, as compatibility varies by specific model.

Is it suitable for jogging?

No — this is a travel and urban stroller, not a jogging stroller. For jogging, ask the Babesta team about dedicated jogging stroller options.

Does it really fit in an airplane overhead bin?

Yes — the Aer2 is IATA compliant at its folded dimensions of 17.3″ × 20.8″ × 9.2″. It’s one of the few strollers you can gate-check and retrieve at the jet bridge, or in some cases carry on directly. Confirm with your specific airline before travel.

Can I try it in person?

Yes — the Joolz Aer2 is on the floor at Babesta Tribeca, 56 Warren Street. Our team can demonstrate the one-second fold, fit the harness, and roll it on the pavement outside so you can feel the suspension for yourself.

Can I put this on my baby registry?

Yes — the Joolz Aer2 is a registry favorite at Babesta. It makes getting around the city and around the world much easier. A Babesta registry comes with exclusive perks and services, and our team can advise on which Aer2 accessories to add based on your lifestyle.

This book is more of a 2.75! First off, the beginning is just awful. We are dripped into a scene that we know barely about the people and then face forward like 12 years or something. There is little mention of how life was hard and miserable in shadow Moore but boom the dad is there and she hates him. Mom, where's mom. Oh, she's back at home. What?!?!! You're going to some academy...what? Do where? Do what? I am.so utterly confused. Okay so she sees mom and then goes to said academy. She is roomed w 4 other guys that have traits of the 7 dwarves! But no there are only 4. I don't know what they look like and can't get a handle so I made myself a list of their characteristics just so I can remember them. When I have to do that you know it's not going to be fun to read! So, we have a handsome one, silly one, emotional one and standoffish one. Great..original! Shegoes through s couple of events at school that are unprecedented for first year students and has run in w her brother who despises her and makes her go to some wastelands where she could have died! Okay, cool bro! She has some smexy time w only 3 of the me while the standoffs one says I'm out okayyyyy. Oh, I forgot she does make 1 girlfriend and 1 enemy girlfriend bc said girl was w Eldon the cocky handsome one. Deep breath I know this is alot. She learns everyone has magic, weird saying that this professor says creeps her out, some people have 2 powers then boom there's a gauntlet w a screaming banshee mermaid thing! Days go by and raven goes on the last day. Low and behold the stand of fish dwarf helps her out. At no point in time are the like hey raven, you have no magic so how are you gonna survive against a banshee?!?!!? I really hate when characters don't talk about the glaring elephant in the room! Okay so she survives and then there is a formal even to celebrate them surviving! Great family reunion bc they have to sit at the table w the family, this is uneventful bc after diner they run away like children! Then their is another smexy time and I notice the author describes the friday nite and then we are transported to Monday morning every week. Okay cool but when raven said that first weekend I'll do whatever y'all want for Saturday the author missed a great opportunity for raven to I don't know maybe get to know the 4 dwarves! Ask them questions about magic, why are we here, how was school for y'all before coming here, what does it feel like to have magic bc guess what guys I don't have any magic?!?!?!? I'm so tires! She gets a suprise visit from her parents and they told her a seer told them of their 2 kids powers but a suppression was put onto her without theirs and her permission! Uh, why didn't you just tell her that before she went to school so she wouldn't feel unworthy and feel crappy for being a VOID?!?! She's mad and avoids the dwarves for a bit then has a finding a coming excursion at school w the a hole guy and then they finally have smexy time! The author never explains what this coin is for!!!!! Okay, author invents things and then doesn't explain okay cool! Did I mention I'm tired? In bn all this there were a couple of parties, alot of students die from all the years, smexy times and rudeness from a hole brother. Okay, they get swords, raven gets a familiar Griffin! There's a school field trip and the 4 boys and raven are trapped and green masked men attack them and brax, stand off boy is harmed or dead I'm unsure. Raven scream for her griffin and he comes then in ends! Cliffhanger!!!! Beware! Was I going to read book 2 early on? No! Am I going to read it now? Yes bc I have to know what's going on! These young boys are just that young boys and raven and Leila are cool but I'm really interested in what powers raven has and about her griffin. Would I recommend? Nooooo!

Great start! 4.5
Format: Kindle
I really enjoyed the first book in this series! The plot and characters are fully fleshed out it seems, and executed quite well. There's sometimes the fmcs reactions seem immature but idk if that's the right word and I like her otherwise and trust I'm easily annoyed by actual immaturity so it's not a deal breaker :) can't wait to see where we go!

Just Wow
Format: Kindle
This book is the start of an amazing new supernatural romance series by KC Kean, and like all her other series, it is incredible! From the first page she sucks you in to the story and you just cannot put it down. She is such an amazing storyteller, you feel like you are right there in the world she is creating, and I love that about her writing. The FML, Raven,is a strong, badass character who can hold her own, but still has a soft spot for her men. And Holy wow what men they are. Lots of shared heat between them all that had my heart racing. Parts of this story had me literally tensing in anticipation of what may be coming next. Spice, danger, drama, mystery…the perfect package. I read it in less than a day, to my own detriment, because then I am left in suspense for the next book. I cannot wait for the next book. Highly recommend reading this!

New favorite
Format: Kindle
I have been working my way through KC Kean's series's and this is my new favorite! Raven is a magicless girl living in a wasteland. She is taken to a magical academy where nothing is as it seems, and her life is forever changed. This is an original story with characters you can't help but love or hate depending on who you are talking about. There were no slow parts, the steam is at a perfect level, and I can't wait to start the next book. Edit: Added after finishing the series. FYI Book 1 was AMAZING. Book 2 was not quite as good, but still worth reading. Books 3 and 4 really went downhill. If I had known, I don't know if I would have started the series.

Fallen Angels, fae, vampires, oh my!
Format: Kindle
Rating: 4.5 | Spice: 2 (but a good slow-burn) • Main Characters: Huntyr and Wolf • I couldn’t wait to read this book; there was so much hype about it! And there was no doubt why. I fell in love with the characters and the plot itself. This book is mainly plot driven more than friction driven but it’s easy to follow along with. The characters are fun, easily understood. The main setting is at an academy where both the main characters are going through trials and building strength for the final test, The Transcendent. There are fantastic side characters as well. I loved the camaraderie between Huntyr and her friends. But we don’t like Lanson. 😆 We do have some plot twists that come into play throughout the book. Secrets and betrayal to be seen. I did adore Wolf and Huntyr’s relationship. It was a classic slow burn trope. They didn’t hit it off fast, but in time their feelings grew. I loved their banter, so sexy. Wolf is your next book boyfriend; Huntyr is your next vampire assassin independent bad-a*s female. Themes include loyalty, trust, self-discovery, a true slow burn romance. Side note: book ends on a angsty cliffhanger! • Emily, thank you for writing this awesome novel and I cannot wait to devour Book 2, Blood So Brutal! 😍 • Happy reading, my lovelies! xo
